Neurotec Pharma research is focused in experimental models of stroke and neurodegeneration in the CNS. We aim to go inside the knowledge of cellular and molecular mechanisms of neuronal death and, thus, to propose and develop new treatments for human brain neurodegeneration. An international scientific team of reserachers carries these activities on. Our scientists are experts in interdisciplinary functional approaches of neuroscience.

More especifically, the current team presents a wide experience in the molecular approach of the physiological and pathological processes present in several neurodegenerative disorders, such as hypoxia-ischemia, Alzheimer’s disease and Huntington Chorea.

Ischemia project:
-Verification of the effectiveness that the drug crosses the Blood Brain Barrier and reaches the focus of injury.

-Analisis and maximization of the effectiveness of the treatment in function of the drug dosis according to the improvement of clinical signs and histological parameters in a Transient Middle Cerebral Arterial Occlusion Model.

-Optimization of the Therapeutic Window in the same context.

-Monitoring of the long term evolution of the clinical signs and lesion parameters with Magnetic Resonance Image and Positron Emission Tomography.

-Design of the pilot clinical study with humans.

-Development of diagnostic tools for ischemia and other acute diseases using molecule labeling combined with brain imaging techniques.

Chronic Central Nervous System Inflamation.
-The effectiveness of our solution in a model of chronic injury has been shown.

-Design of the protocols to test the the effectiveness of the treatment in function of the drug dosis according to the improvement of clinical signs and histological parameters in a Chronic injury Model.
